Extension of transport service for Carnaval de Cádiz 2026
The Policía Local de Cádiz will set up a special operation to regulate traffic during Carnaval 2026, recommending the use of public transport and avoiding private vehicle travel as much as possible. The Ayuntamiento has designed a Special Traffic Plan that includes various measures to facilitate mobility and guarantee safety during the festive days.
The urban bus service will feature extra buses and special schedules. Lines 1, 3, and 5 will provide non-stop service on both Saturdays of Carnaval until connecting with Sunday's service. Line 2 will merge into Line 5 from 21:00 to 9:00 on Sundays 15 and 22. In addition, a special Line 7 service has been scheduled between 2:30 and 6:15 on the nights of Saturdays 14 and 21.
For the parade that will travel along the Avenida principal, traffic cuts will be implemented on all sections starting at approximately 15:00. These cuts will affect urban and intercity bus lines, which will run mainly along the same routes as the urban service.
On Sunday, February 15, as a result of the parade along the Avenida, stops and routes for intercity buses will be modified from 15:00 until the end of all services. The metropolitan bus station area located on Avenida de Astilleros will be fenced off during Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 February.
Charter buses will be able to enter the city via Avda. Periodista Beatriz Cienfuegos, either via the CA-36 (Puente José León de Carranza) or via the CA-33 (Autovía de Cádiz- San Fernando). They will also be able to access the city via the CA-35 (Puente de la Constitución de 1812). Buses will park in the designated areas following instructions from the Policía Local, and will remain parked there until passengers' boarding time.
To prevent overcrowding on the city's urban transport lines, three shuttle buses will be set up in Navalips for users of charter bus services coming from other towns. As for car parking, a total of 11,770 spaces are offered across the city's various car parks, with around 3,900 spaces in the twelve existing car parks in the old town and 7,870 spaces in the seventeen car parks located in extramuros.
