The Ayuntamiento de Cádiz Will Maintain the Urban Bus Ticket Discount

The mayor of Cádiz, Bruno García, announced on December 4 that the Ayuntamiento de Cádiz will continue with the urban bus ticket discount as of January 1. During a press conference, García explained that the current cost per trip is 0.35 euros, thanks to a reduction that includes a municipal contribution of 15 cents and a state subsidy of 20 cents aimed at encouraging the use of public transport.

However, with just a few days left before the end of the year, the Partido Popular (PP) has expressed its concern over the "lack of definition and response from the central Government" regarding the continuity of these support measures for urban transport. For this reason, the PP will present a motion in the Pleno this Thursday, urging the Executive to renew its financial support.

For its part, Adelante Izquierda Gaditana shares this concern and will present a similar initiative during the same session. However, this coalition requests that, in the event that the central Government does not maintain the contribution of 20 cents, it should be the Ayuntamiento that assumes the necessary investment to prevent an increase in the ticket price to 0.55 euros.

In addition, the left-wing coalition has urged the mayor to carry out a progressive renewal of the bus fleet, proposing the acquisition of six new buses over the coming year, thus continuing the strategy implemented by the previous government team.
