Cádiz pays tribute to eight prominent local figures
Eight Gaditanos Receive Honors at the Ayuntamiento de Cádiz
This Monday, the city of Cádiz will pay tribute to five prominent local figures who have dedicated their lives to raising the profile of their land. Among them are the renowned flamenco singer Juanito Villar, the iconic carnavalera Koki Sánchez Pérez, the experienced capataz Ramón Velázquez Mellado, the versatile presenter and actress Paz Padilla, and the acclaimed restaurateur Miguel Pelayo García Borbolla.
In addition, recognition will be given to three personalities who, although not originally from Cádiz, have shown a deep commitment to the city: Doctor Isabel Benavente, the poet and writer Luis García Montero, and the Gender Violence prosecutor Lorena Montero Pujante. These eight figures will receive the title of Hijos Predilectos e Hijos Adoptivos de Cádiz, a recognition that highlights their dedication and love for this city.
The event, which will take place at the Palacio de Congresos starting at 19:00 hours, will also include the posthumous presentation of the title of Regidor Honorario to Carlos Díaz, an honor awarded for the first time in the history of the Ayuntamiento de Cádiz. Likewise, three Gold Medals will be awarded to the banda de cornetas y tambores Nuestra Señora del Rosario Coronada, the asociación Calor en la Noche, and the Cuerpo Nacional de Policía.
The decision to award these titles was unanimously ratified by the Pleno del Ayuntamiento on November 14, following a proposal from the Comisión de Honores y Distinciones. Onda Cádiz Televisión will broadcast this moving event live, allowing all local residents to follow it from home.
