Cádiz prepares for new European funding with Edil

The Ayuntamiento de Cádiz Prepares for the New European Funding Strategy: Edil

The Ayuntamiento de Cádiz continues its efforts to integrate into the new European funding strategy known as Edil. In this context, the possibility of expanding the scope of action beyond the neighbourhoods that already benefited from the previous programme, Edusi, is being evaluated. The neighbourhoods that received support in the previous call include Segunda Aguada, Cerro del Moro, Loreto, Puntales, Guillén Moreno, and La Paz.

The City Councillor for European Funds, José Manuel Cossi, has confirmed that other neighbourhoods and areas of Cádiz are being considered for inclusion in the future European investment programme. According to the Ayuntamiento, a technical study is underway to evaluate this possibility, "as long as the projects comply with the regulatory bases of this call".

Technical Commission to Evaluate Projects

A technical commission will be responsible for verifying whether the proposals meet the requirements set out in the call for European grants, which will allow the development of various projects for the city in the coming years.

Main Lines of Action of the Edil Strategy

The main areas of focus of the Edil strategy include:

  • Digitalisation
  • Energy and Environment
  • Heritage
  • Tourism and Culture
  • Social Inclusion and Economic Dynamisation

"We are working on the proposal that will be submitted for these European funds, collaborating with various municipal delegations and political groups, as well as with citizens, social entities, and neighbourhood associations in working meetings where suggestions and needs of the neighbourhoods are gathered," declared Cossi.

Meetings to Advance the Local Action Plan

This week, a new meeting was held with government councillors and municipal technicians in the auditorium of the Instituto de Fomento, Empleo y Formación (IFEF) to continue making progress on the proposal. In the coming dates, meetings will be scheduled with citizens, neighbourhood associations, and social entities to continue developing the Plan de Acción Local, integrated into the Agenda Cádiz 2030, in preparation for the call for grants of the EDIL Plan.

The goal of these initiatives is to encourage participation in the future projects of the city and ensure the involvement of groups and citizens, a fundamental requirement to achieve the necessary score in this European programme that lies on the horizon for Cádiz.
