The mayor remains firm in his decision not to allow showers or footbaths on the beaches of Cádiz this summer.
The mayor of Cádiz, Bruno García, today reiterated his firm stance regarding the lack of showers and footbaths on the city's beaches this season. Despite recent rainfall and the easing of some restrictions by the Junta de Andalucía, the Ayuntamiento de Cádiz has no intention of reversing this water-saving measure due to the drought.
García emphasized that concern about water persists regardless of recent rains and that decisions are made with caution, following the guidelines set by the Junta de Andalucía. He pointed out that the water situation is a long-term problem and that the city must be aware of future difficulties.
The mayor also highlighted the collaboration with the Junta de Andalucía and the Ayuntamiento de San Fernando on projects such as using recycled water for street washing, although he acknowledged that much remains to be done in this regard. He stated that, although the water currently used for street washing is drinking water, they are working so that recycled water can be used in the future.
In summary, García stressed that the water situation is a shared problem requiring short, medium, and long-term measures, and that the Ayuntamiento de Cádiz is committed to addressing it responsibly.
