Carranza bridge will remain closed for 4 months and dates have been announced

Traffic restrictions will come into effect from 21:00 on Sunday, 17 March.

The Ministerio de Transportes y Movilidad Sostenible is carrying out the replacement of beams in span 30 of the Puente José León de Carranza, located in the province of Cádiz.

The complete project has a current budget of 3.16 million euros, including VAT. In order to guarantee the safety of workers and users during the execution of the works, it is reported that from 21:00 on Sunday, 17 March, a total closure of the CA-36 at the bridge access will take place between kilometers 0.200 and 4.400.

This total closure in both directions will last approximately four months, provided that work conditions allow. To facilitate traffic flow during this period, properly signposted alternative routes have been established.

Regarding the details of the work, various actions will be carried out, such as weight limitations on the bridge, preparation of access points for machinery, temporary detours and restoration of affected services, temporary road signage, demolitions and dismantling in span 30, surface repairs on piers and abutments, and construction of a new deck in span 30.

In addition, replacements and complementary actions, detailed bridge inspections, definitive solution studies, and drafting of the necessary demolition project will be carried out. The supervision of inspections, studies, projects, technical assistance, and site control, including aquatic means for supervision, are included in the plan. Health and safety, as well as waste management throughout the process, are also addressed.
