LOS40 Summer Live 2024, free concerts in Cádiz on Friday, July 12
The Noche Abierta of Cádiz commerce, which will be held on Friday, July 12, will feature the return of a beach concert after several years of absence. This event is made possible thanks to the collaboration between cadena SER and the Ayuntamiento de Cádiz. The concert will take place on the Paseo Marítimo, near Amílcar Barca (former cemetery), with the ‘Summer Live 2024’ tour by Los 40 Principales, which previously visited in the summer of 2014. From 21:00 to 01:00, artists such as Vicco, known for ‘Nochentera’, and Ruslana, a participant in Operación Triunfo 2023, will perform. Paula Koops, Hilario, Adexe & Nau, César AC, Polo Nández, J Francis and Malva will also take the stage. The Los 40 DJ, Óscar Martínez, will close the gala and serve as master of ceremonies.
This commerce support initiative, presented on Wednesday morning at the hotel Occidental de Cádiz, will kick off on Thursday 11 in the city center with a live broadcast of Radio Cádiz's local program ‘Hoy por hoy’ at 12:20 from plaza de San Francisco. At the same location, from 21:30 to 23:30, Óscar Martínez, the best-known DJ from Los 40 Principales, will offer a session of current music at Los 40 Sessions.
Shops associated with Cádiz Centro Comercial Abierto (CCCA) will be open that evening, and there will be activities such as building games for children in plaza de la Catedral from 19:30 to 22:30. There will also be a street parade with artists and extras starting in plaza de Mina and ending in San Juan de Dios, where the public can take photos on 360 platforms or with a magic mirror. José Amaya, president of CCCA, announced that 1,000 euros in 10-euro vouchers will be offered to spend that same night in downtown shops.
The party will continue on Friday, July 12 in Puerta Tierra with a street market in plaza Ana Orantes (formerly Glorieta Ingeniero La Cierva), where at least twenty extramuros businesses will display their products. There will be tents, children's activities, and beach gifts distributed by the Asociación de Comerciantes de Extramuros (ACEX). "We want the public, both locals and visitors, to appreciate the diversity of commerce in this area," stated Alicia Reyes, president of ACEX.
Lourdes Acosta, director of cadena SER in Cádiz, expressed her confidence in the success of the event, stating that "this will be very beneficial for Cádiz" and highlighting the effort of everyone involved to make these days special.
Beatriz Gandullo, Deputy Mayor for Economic Development, pointed out that "we are going to address the merchants' demands in collaboration with cadena SER." For his part, Mayor Bruno García stated that "for a city to prosper, it needs good ideas carried out by people committed to the well-being of Cádiz." He thanked the work of ACEX and CCCA, as well as the support of SER for its interest in the city and its promotion of gaditanismo.
