New Free Parking Lot in Cádiz
The Ayuntamiento de Cádiz has opened a new free surface public parking lot on the Loreto plot, where the construction of 212 homes is planned. This parking area, which will operate until September 15, is free of charge and offers between 350 and 400 spaces.
Over the last few days, the Movilidad Urbana department has prepared the site, which was previously used informally and without control. For added security, the area has been fenced off. It was decided not to charge any fee, as this would have required installing equipment, delaying the opening. The quick opening of the parking lot comes as a response to the start of the summer season and requests from residents in nearby neighborhoods.
This land, owned by the Junta, has been acquired by Grupo Q, which already owns Hotel Cádiz Bahía and plans to build around a hundred flats—both VPO (subsidized housing) and market-rate—in Los Chinchorros. In Loreto, 212 public housing units will be built.
The opening of this parking lot, the first in the city to operate as a free parking zone during the summer season, was made possible thanks to the collaboration of the Seville real estate company, which accepted the Ayuntamiento's proposal and temporarily ceded the use of the land.
